Surf Your Addiction Away

🏄 Urge Surfer

You didn't wake up one day and decide to be addicted, and you certainly didn't imagine you could fix that by surfing. So when COACH hands you a surfboard you, naturally, have doubts. But through the magical concoction of pixels, mindfulness, and therapy, you will beat that bad habit — one urge at a time.Surf's up!

🥼 Featuring Recovery Engine™

Recovery Engine™ is our proprietary game engine that features four key addiction recovery components: framework, programming, mindfulness, and personalisation.

1.

Framework

Addiction is about more than acting out on urges. Taking cues from the DEADs tool from the SMART Recovery program, Recovery Engine™ adopts a comprehensive approach to addiction recovery across the entire urge lifecycle: before, during, and after urges are triggered.

2.

Programming

At its core, addiction is faulty brain wiring. But unlike certain recovery programs, we do not believe addiction is a lifelong sentence. Neuroplasticity studies demonstrate that the brain can be changed. Recovery Engine™ attempts to reverse addiction by reprogramming the brain, using CBT (Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy), disassociation, and affirmations.

3.

Mindfulness

Managing urges in the moment boils down to mindfulness. Recovery Engine™ integrates techniques from DBT (Dialectical Behavioural Therapy) and MBRP (Mindfulness-Based Relapse Prevention) to regulate emotions and figuratively surf urges instead of acting out on them. If addiction manifests in a series of urges, then it can be defeated urge by urge — one urge at a time.

4.

Personalisation

Recovery Engine™ allows players to customise their individual addictions, triggers, moods, and recovery activities. The engine prepares a custom recovery plan, then delivers personalised coaching for each player, taking into account their configured preferences, gameplay metrics, and other insights.
